On 8 of June, 2011 in Sofia, the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors organized a round table discussion on professional scepticism in the work of statutory auditors- challenges related to the crisis.

The director of „Quality Control on the Activity of Statutory Auditors” Directorate and an inspector in the same Directorate took part in the IFIAR’s fifth inspection workshop, held on 23-25 February 2011 in Washington.

Dated from 22 to 25 November 2010, the Director of “Quality Control on the Activity of Statutory Auditors” Directorate and an inspector in the same Directorate visited the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales(ICAEW).

On 19th November 2010, the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors initiated a discussion on the Green Paper ”Audit Policy:Lessons from the Crisis’. The document was issued by the European Commission and presented for discussion in the Member States of the European Union.

On 22‐24 March 2010, independent audit regulators from 30 jurisdictions participated in the seventhmeeting of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (“IFIAR”). Details of the membership of IFIAR can be found on the IFIAR website (www.ifiar.org).

A workshop on audit quality control, organized by the Bulgarian Institute of Certified Public Accountants with lecturers from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales was held from 30th November to 4th December 2009 in Sofia. The training was attended by quality reviewers from the ICPA and twenty inspectors and experts from CPOSA.

On 25 and 26th June in Bankya, a workshop for the inspectors of the Commission for public oversight of statutory auditors was conducted. The training was focused on the approved by the Commission “Rules and procedures for quality control on the activity of statutory auditors.”

Dr.h.c. Volker Rohricht, Chairman of the German Audit Oversight Commission, and Mr Tim Volkmann, Secretary General of the Commission, paid a two-day visit on 15th and 16th June in Sofia at the invitation of the Chairman of the Bulgarian Commission for Public Oversight of the Statutory Auditors

On the 9th June 2009 the Chairman of the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors received at their request Dr Martin Manuzi, Director of the European Office and Head of European Affairs, and Mr Paul Simkins, Director of Quality Assurance Department at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

On 19th May 2009 the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors conducted a Round table “The Role of Public Oversight Authorities for Better Protection of Public Interest” with international participation.
