On the  9th June 2009 the Chairman of the Commission for Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors received at their request  Dr Martin Manuzi, Director of the European Office and Head of European Affairs, and Mr Paul Simkins, Director of Quality Assurance Department at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Ms Hristina Simeonova, Member of CPOSA, and Directors of specialized directorates Mr Viktor Trifonov and Ms Natasha Raleva were present at the meeting.

Dr Martin Manuzi referred to the main activities of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the opportunities of cooperation. Mr Paul Simkins presented the Department he is heading and focused on the quality review approaches, organisation and distribution of functions during audit quality reviews, performed by different bodies in the United Kingdom.

The lively discussion confirmed the commitment of public oversight for audit quality reviews of the public interest entities. A large scope of opportunities was outlined concerning professional bodies’ role for assuring quality of audits of the non-public interest entities.

Both parties expressed a mutual will for cooperation between CPOSA and ICAEW in the field of training and good practice exchange.
